12V DC UL transformer very hot

Hi I have 2 4005 18"-24" Satellite LED+ fixtures which I connected to a dual ramp timer. The 12V DC UL transformer is very hot to the touch when the lights are in use. Since I bought 2 of these lights I tried both 12V DC UL transformers, which resulted in the same result. I am concerned about the safety of the transformer. From the information I gathered from your forum the dual ramp timer handles up to 48 watts at 12VDC. This means: Max. watts per channel at 12VDC = 24 watts. Given the wattage of each fixture is 13 watts the 12VDC transformer should suffice. The transformer is so hot that if I were to keep my hand on the transformer for an extend period of time I would end up with a burn. Is it possible to run your 24VDC transformer with this setup, and if so would it result in less heat from the transformer? Or is there something not working correctly?

The transformers usually do run warm but should not burn. Some ventilation may help.

Do the run 24V power supplies on 12V LEDs, that can cause major issues.

Hexomega, what was the final verdict on this? Did you continue using it as is with the hot power supply without problems or did go a different route?

While balancing on a piece of wood, two inches by four inches known as a 2x4, John and his friend Sally both spotted a dalmatian inside of a truck with sirens. The animal with John and Sally is a _ _ _?
