USPS "Out for Delivery" but package never showed

I've been tracking a registered mail from overseas and the status showed as "out for delivery" at 8:18 Saturday morning, 7/6/14.

I waited for the mail carrier when she showed up around 3pm. But she said the package wasn't not with her and would leave the peach colored form on Monday when she finds it.

I also notice the post that delivers my mail is always from zip 90027. The tracking notice shows "Out for Delivery" is from zip 90028. My place is 90029.

Has anyone else had this happen? Did the package show up the next day?

No, not from europe.

This is the second registered mail. The first one ended on zip about 15-18 miles away. The post near my place told me to call USPS 1800 number to hold the mail. i called the next day and talk to the post where my mail was supposed to be and was put on hold for more than an hour. Followed up the next day and they said the mail was returned back to sender bec of wrong address.

The tracking of the first registered mail was on a different zip. So, i was wondering if the zip that appears on "Out for delivery" status an indication that the mail was on the wrong postal location?

Its happened to me only once. Went out on the wrong truck so I did not get it until a day or two later. While waiting the web site changed from out for delivery to wrong address.

Sounds like a misprint on your address. It'll find you eventually.

I've had this happen with UPS and Fedex, but not with the Post Office. What happened in my case is they were scanned on the weekend for Monday delivery. If you don't get it today it might be "lost" and you may want to contact the package handler.

Thanks for the post, guys.

Tracking Update:

Went from "out for delivery" 7/5 to back to "Processed through USPS Sort Facility" 7/7. Hopefully it will find its way to my mail tomorrow.

This has happened to me. I went to the post office and asked to speak with the manager.Turns out the package had been sitting on the mail mans truck for all that time. I find that if you wait and assume it will show up it never does. There is nothing more effective than showing up and dealing with someone in person.

Oh I have had them say "out for delivery 10:59AM EST" when it was only 7:00AM EST. Lol, the usps can see the future!

Dang! I would do as suggested above and go to the post office and see what you can work out. If it is from a company I would give them a call too and let them know your package is potentially lost in the mail so they can get started on their "lost package" claim with USPS.

I do a lot of online shopping especially around the holidays, and every year I have packages lost in transit, usually they are able to recover 3 out of every ten packages that gets lost, or at least that's my experience. This past Christmas I had almost seven packages "lost" in the mail from various companies, really is was only six packages, one was found about a week later and delivered. I don't even use UPS anymore unless I am ordering off Amazon, I seem to lose the majority of my packages with them.
