i have built my own reactor and have been useing if for a while now.. however i never see any air bubbles leaving the bottom of the VAC tube.. but the chamber doesent seem to fill up as if it were not escaping. and none is leaving the top, i have a block of sponge and above that i have some inert teddy filling i use the sponge to hold it in and prevent the pump blowing it out. is the co2 dissolving ? or should i reconsider what im useing as a media. its only a small powerhead that sits in top but many attempts have either blown out the media. or the media has let to many bubbles free. fast rising or large bubbles.

my plants rarely perl. but im yet to question that once the new lights are established.

update on the wooly filling. its just letting the bubbles escape into the bottom. they dont seem to be leaving and collect under the sponge were the water presure is less. they are not leaving the bottom but may possibly rise out of the powerhead when its switched off...

what do you guys use in your diy VAC+Powerhead rigs. and do you use any caps etc to hold the media in place?

i have no bioballs and proly wont have none for a long time. but these aint essential i know.

I use the Plantguild power reactor. The bubbles have never escaped from the reactor. They go as fas as the bottom of the foam as you describe. To my understanding, no bubbles escape means 100% CO2 dissolved. But you should be able to see the bubbles inside the vacuum moving in twisting motion.

nah its all gone poop... so i decided to add a small internal filter and ran the airline in the top, the plants are starting to perl slightly and the mist of co2 is whirling around the tank.. i think this is a better method than my crap diy job.. maybe ill buy one in the future.
