I love the attention to detail on this build and the Buces!

Yeah lol, IIRC most Buce are "unknown" to science, hence the names.

Den - No crypts in this tank. I've got my two emersed setups strictly for crypts; I actually had some of these Buces in those tanks that were moved to this Mini M.

I decided to ditch the Archaea LED fixture from ADA; the spectrum is way too cool for my taste. I want something I can easily suspend and something I can dim.

So, after working with Cara from BML, I'm getting a custom length fixture for the Mini-M with a dimmer and the suspension mounts. Now I have to figure out how to hang the light....

Check out my Mini-M journal in my sig - I am suspending a 16" Fugeray with adhesive magnetic strips and L-shelf brackets. Might work for you too.

After looking at the different options I have, I decided to continue with the stainless steel theme in this stand. I ordered a 48" x 1/2" OD SS rod for the light hanger; I plan on bending it with a 90* (like most people do with conduit). The SS will be a bit of a challenge to bend, so I may take it to a shop and have a nice tight bend put in it.

Unhappy Bengal Attack!

I had been unable to continue oiling the door of the stand until this week; our temps have been so low that my kerosene heater cannot get the garage to proper temperature. Only recently has the temperature increased beyond freezing.

Overnight the roommate’s pet Bengal (housecat...not a Tiger) decided to pee on the door of my stand. The door was laying face up on the workbench. With only a single coat of Tung oil that was already sanded in preparation for the next coat, the finish simply could not hold up to 20+ hours of exposure. The urine stained the wood (through), destroyed the finish, reacted with and turned the wood glue into a white chalky substance, and cause the wood to swell and warp.

The front door is ruined and not salvageable. I will have to build a new door.

Sounds like someone isn't cleaning the litter box enough (or mr.kitty needs a snip snip between the legs to deter territorial marking). Sorry for the set back, at least it didn't manage to ruin the entire stand some how (massive piss-a-thon!).

That is a rare regulator that you have. It's the stainless steel version of a common 312, which allows for stainless steel gauges. There was a 332 (what you have) on fleabay recently, it went for 200 dollars for the reg alone.

+1 For an original Co2 built, I haven't seen that configuration before.

Any close up pictures? She is a beauty!

Very nice work and sorry about the door.

Love the buces. From what I have gathered, CO2 is helpful with buces but not mandatory. Many people keep them in low tech tanks.

LOL!! That's so true with many Buce plants. Let's see how many wild names we can attach to the same plant...

Tank look good. Bummer about the door! I'm most definitely looking forward to seeing how this one develops.

I'll see if I can get any closeups of the regulator. I bought the setup from Ruko; he originally had a different post body on it. I have no idea where he got it. The configuration is a bit goofy, but it had to be different to allow it to find in such tight quarters.

Turns out the little guy has some disease that causes bladder irritation and abdominal pain; he's on medication and hasn't peed on anything since.

The new door is already in the works; I'll see if I can get some updated pictures of my progress.

I also added some blue ramshorn snails to the tank to help with diatoms & initial algae (gotta love the new tank fun!). Furthermore, I got my light from BML; it's amazing! Pictures soon.
