Arcadia T8 to T5

I have a T8 Arcadia starter unit that was given to me by a friend. I was about to sell it when i thought whether it would be possible to use it as a T5 controller.

The specs on the back of the controller state that its for 38w T8 tubes. My question is whether it would be possible to change the end pieces to T5 fittings and hook it to a T5 tube, would that work?

For example if I were to go ahead and change the fittings to T5 and attached a 24w tube or even a 39w tube, would it power up?

I understand the resistance of the ballast are different, but if someone could shed some light

Thanks in advance!
Tim
