I just bought 6 from Tod at that place...it's a great store, and the only place in the STATE that has RCS (I was getting desperate). The ones I bought have colored up very nicely and are far healthier then I expected. Most are deep red and they seam to have a pack mentality. Unfortunately, I lost one to my beta (he's on probation and getting shipped back if he does it again).

Highly recommended store...but pricy on hardware.

Hoffers has RCS for a lot cheeper then Aquatics. I bought a lot today, and there were not many left, but I'm sure they'll get more soon.

I bought 10 of them. It's not a "hole lot" but it's a lot compared to what they had in in the tank. There might be about 5 left.

Azimuth,

Many thanks for your posts. I've been looking for cherries for a year now, and simply can not find em in Wisconsin. Your words are making me quite itchy for a trip . Let us know how those cherries work out for ya. Or, if you get em to reproduce, I'll trade ya for angels or rams.

Their reproduction is one of my goals. I have 15 of them now (one died under mysterious circumstances). Getting them to breed will have to wait, unfortunately. I have a bit of an ick epidemic with my neons that I have to sort out first.

I'll be sure to post here the moment I see signs of any small shrimp.

One small thing....Cherry shrimp are small...about half the size of an Amano shrimp (or less). You can't get much lower on the food chain then the Cherries. They would be a tasty meal for an Angel fish. I'm not sure what Rams are like (I've never had one), but if they can live well with Angels, then Cherries would most likely be on a Ram's menu as well.

I have little doubt that cherries would be lunchy for adult angels. Rams are a toss-up. They have very small mouths and only grow to a couple inches (3 inches is a monster). I'm betting that adult cherries would fair ok...but the young, no chance.

Keep us posted.

I have some Cherry Shrimp for anyone in the Green Bay area. I also have Zebra Sphixi snails, Red Ramshorns, L201 plecos, and Bronze cories for sale too.

Hopefully at some point in the not-so-distant future I will have some Cherries to sell/trade. I got 10 a couple of months ago at a Milwaukee Aquarium Society (MAS) meeting. I currently have them in my "Red Cherry Shrimp Nuclear Cooling Tower". See pic below. It is a glass hurricane that is 10 inches tall and 6 inches in diameter at its widest point. In the hurricane I have the Cherries and some Java Moss. Only ambient light on the tank. The shrimp seem to be doing quite well. See the second pic for a "scooting" Cherry Shrimp in the tank. If you'd like to know when I've got some available, shoot me an email at headdarter@btdarters.com.
