I would like to add that fenben is light sensitive- so shut off your tank light for a day, and if you have a mechanical filter to remove the carbon for a couple days.

For hydra, I do half the dose in my tenners. .05g takes an extra day or two, but gentler to the tanks and just as effective.

Thanks for the details SS!

We all have to help each other, my friend.

Oh, if you have Nerites, or Apple/Mystery snails, remove those before dosing.

Take out your Tylos before treatment as well.

I have both of those in one of my Sulawesi tanks, and they were fine when I dosed 150mg Fenben into the 30 gallon tank. Hydra were dead within hours, no effect apparent on the snails.

It really does work. Just dosed my tank yesterday morning and the hydra are fewer in numbers. I'm dosing again today to get those stubborn stragglers.

Before dosing again, try letting it sit for 2-3 days. The med is still in your tank. It just takes time to work.

Just found Hydra in my shirmp tank. also have a bunch of snails in there that I use to feed my puffer... I don't think any are nerite, just random snails growing around. Is it safe to dose with fenben? and is it a single dose, no carbon, leave in for 2 days, and water change? or is it easier to just suck them out with a syringe?

I don't know about the snails as my tanks were shrimp only and honestly hydra are probably in places you just don't see. Mine were in plants and I would have never been able to find every last one of them so I chose to dose. Mine took two doses but you will see them unhappy after just one dose and their numbers decrease. I saw no affects on shrimp but I only have cherries.
Good luck!

If you see one, guaranteed there are more you can't see hiding. That's why I dose whenever needed.

I dosed about half a packet in my 10g and they disappeared by the next day. Ramshorn and spixi snails did just fine.

Wow. That sounds like a lot. How big was the packet?

You're supposed to divide the packet into 10 equal parts and each part treats 10 gallons.

When my husband saw me splitting the white powder with a razor blade he stopped dead in his tracks with utter shock on his face. Lol
