Hi, I am very new to this website. Well, not new, I always look here for info, but I just made an account.
Anyways, I have a Fluval Spec III with 3 Emerald Eye Rasboras from my 10 gallon semi-planted aquarium. That one is all good and cycled and has been for a year. I also added plenty of filter media to the Spec to jump start the cycle. The Spec is nice and all, and has a high flow rate even on it's lowest setting. The rasboras love it. However, I was maybe thinking of putting a Betta in there. I learned a trick from a guy on here that put a Fluval Edge Prefilter Sponge on the spout. I tried it and it slowed the flow so much that the water was somewhat stagnate even with the flow rate at its highest setting. I was wanting to put a Betta in there since the flow is extremely low and they are somewhat used to semi-stagnate water.
What are your opinions on this? Should I put the rasboras back in the 10 gallon and put a Betta in the Spec and add a sponge to the outflow? Or should I keep the rasboras in the Spec?
