DIY Fan, AC/DC plug getting hot?? Is it normal??

sup

my AC/DC plug thing gets hot when when i unplug it at the end of the day, is this normal?? i've checked after a couple of hours of it being on and its not as hot, its just a bit warm...

its a 12v, 150ma... is the 150ma too low?? do i need to do 200mah? i dont want my house to catch on fire, thats why i installed the fan in the first place but now it seems like the fan will cause a fire, maybe im just too paranoid

I think it getting warm is usual, but hot might not be. How hot is it getting?

What current does your fan draw? Perhaps it is exceeding the output of the adapter?

i can hold it in my hand no problem, but its really really warm, almost hot, seems too warm.. the fan is 12v .37A, and theres another smaller chipset fan like only 2 inches big thats hooked up.. i have 2 fans hooked up, they are both different..

this is(looks like) the chipset fan i have, maybe this shouldnt be hooked up?? it doesnt say the amps on this thing weird
Amazon.com: StarTech Universal VGA Cooler Fan w/ Heatsink. UNIVERSAL VGA CARD CHIPSET HEATSINK/FAN COOLER MB-CP. 40.89mm - 5000rpm Ball Bearing: Office Products

is it exceeding the output of the adapter?? i have no idea how to calculate this.. how many watts can this thing put out? 12v 150mah adapater

well maybe this isnt too big of a problem for now, i already have 2 50mm fans coming in the mail soon, they should use less watts right?? i have a 120mm fan hooked right now and its way too big lol, this is the fan i got

Your fan consumes 0.37A of power.

Your 12V adapter only provides 150 mA of power (0.15 A). I do not think your adapter would indicate that it provides 0.15 Ah (amp-hour).

This indicates that your adapter is not providing enough current to fully drive the fan, and is likely running at full capacity trying to run the fan.

good to know, is this thing likely to cause a fire?? should i be worried?? ill have to look for another adapter

update- i found a new adapted 750mA and says max .3v, also picked up my new fans so im good to go now.. i got a total of .16 volts running now, i think i might add 1 more fan since the light is still getting warm in the middle

I don't know how likely a fire is, but it is a possibility, since you are trying to use the adapter past its rated output.

Your new adapter sounds fine current wise, but it only provides 0.3V? And you now have 0.16V running? I am not sure where you are getting these numbers from...

Power adapters genotype if they are working to hard. Try finding one with more amps. Some rand could be a few hundreds ma some can consume 1.5a or more

Yeah,.. with amprage you want to be less than the rated max, so less than .3 Amps. With Voltage you want to match it,.. IE 12V light on 12V adapter.
