Cleveland area swap meet?

I've been getting antsy about trying out some new plants. Since this time of year doesn't make it easy to mail plants, I was wondering if there was enough interest to get a group of people together and do a swap meet. I'm hoping to organize something in January. If you are interested please post here. Depending on where people are at, we can try and find a central area that works for everyone. If there's enough interest, I'll look into places that could accommodate a larger group.

I plan on bringing some harder-to-find Ludwigias as well as plants I typically sell/trade after tank trims.

Please respond here so others can see.

Thanks!
Scott

Not really looking to expand my current line up of plants but definitely can offer up what I have. I always think it's a big waste come trim time. I think a meet is a great idea. I do think a little later is better so I can let things grow out...

I might be interested. I usually sell plant trimmings to a LFS in Lakewood but I'd be up for a swap if there's enough interest.

I may not bring much to the table but would enjoy getting some rarer plants and talking with you guys. Hey DoctorLondom do you bring your trimmings to the Pets General Store? Where else do you guys go besides RMS and their.

I'm hoping the slow responses are due to the holiday. I'm with you, Mike. I think the meet & greet portion will be just as fun as the plant swap

Yeah, Pet's is where I go. RMS has a decent plant selection, but online is pretty much your only option unless you want the most common ones.

Not a ton of interest, huh? If you guys are up for a smaller group, I'm still interested. Either way, we should try again in the Spring.

Please post here if you want to meet or try again in the Spring. Thanks!

I'd be interested in a swap meet in March or April.

OK. Let's try to create some more excitement for the Spring. I'm really hoping there is enough interest.

You might consider setting up a swap meet at some of the local club auctions that will be coming up. This might allow people that aren't familiar with each other to meet in a rather public place.

There are often 'side' deals going on amongst members and non-members alike and you aren't required to be a club member to auction items in the main event.

I guess it depends on how far you are willing to travel. There is the Cleveland Aquarium Society that meets by the Zoo but I don't know if they have auctions.

The Ohio Cichlid Association is having an auction in February at the Strongsville Holiday Inn, check out ohiocichlid.com for info.

The Greater Akron Aquarium Society is having their auction in March.

This is a wealth of information! Thank you I think the travel could be well worth it.

No problem!!

There is also a new fish club called Neofish or Northeast Ohio fish club that meets in Independence and the Medina County Aquarium Club that meets in Medina, close to the I-71 Route 18 exit and will have an auction in a few months.

Lorain County also has a fish club and holds auctions twice a year.

We are actually pretty lucky in our area because there are quite a few aquarium clubs and they have their meetings and auctions at different times so that there is a lot of variety available and everyone can make every event usually.
