8G Rimless Long

Starting this tank with items acquired from SCAPE members almost exclusively

Tank measures 36" L x 6.375" W x 8.5" T (with hard water stains)
Gnarly awesome DW with "lot's of personality"
Eheim 2211 (donated)

Here is a quick pic of the current DW layout, sans substrate, pending hardscape items

Plans for this tank will be low light (mostly from window if that works out) and AquaSoil.

I may try to DSM this tank with some E. acicularis or HC… probably have to supplement LED lighting for that to work.

I may add an Iwagumi-style rocky outcropping, but the Idea is a centered mound to conceal the base of the wood and secure it and let the "branches" hang back into the water. I may tie/glue some H. sp. 'Japan" to the wood like I did in our 8G AIO

For other hardscape options, I have some Yamasa type stone along with 1 smaller piece of Seiryu and a few pieces of petrified wood to choose from.. looking for suggestions on rock to compliment the scape.

Also wondering if I should offset the branch to one side vs. centered, which will leave more room for the DSM-scape.

Open to questions and comments, and thanks for looking!

Where did you find the 8g long?

Love the DW!

think the DW is at a good location as is. imo, moving it over to the side and having the upper part hang outside the tank sounds cool, but in terms of aesthetics will cause the scape to be off balanced. it can be done though if you had another piece similar to the first that can face the other direction.

I bought the tank off a fellow SCAPE member, it used to be a betta breeder tank w partitions, now gone.

I got the DW from a different SCAPE member

I love a club where members actually meet and form relationships. SCAPE is an amazing community!

I was thinking about cutting the bottom of the DW and sliding it to the left, so the "tree" looking part is off to one side vs. centered… which is more in the spirit of an iwagumi layout (though not traditional iwagumi of course)

Trying to not be too symmetrical or predictable.
