The Coralife 30" 65w CF will do nicely.

10000k is fine. The kelvin rating is just aesthetics. Personally I would get the Current USA's 10000k/6700k "Sunpaq" or All Glass' 8000k. Both should look pretty good although I've been unimpressed with Current USA's rendition, too heavy with the green peaks, blueish look, plants pop green but fish looked washed out. So Coralife with an 8000k is my suggestion.

Big Als has them cheaper ATM.. should save a few bucks on shipping too, being they are on the east coast.

The 6700k will look OK, some like it some say too yellow. Perhaps see how you like it and adjust from there.

55w and 65w are interchangeable as long as they have the correct pin configuration, in this case straight.

Perhaps a better choice

The t5ho's 48w will be comparable to the CF's 65w

You could go for a 2x65w Coralife if you wanted to go "high light", pressurized CO2 would be a must, and a steep learning curve would be included.

Cheaper then the Coralife, with lunar lights ooooh.

I would also check out this site. If they don't have what you want, I would e-mail them. They are located in Miami, Florida, so shipping will be ultra-fast for you.

I am a big fan of Big Als, but since they are located in Buffalo, New York, shipping can take a week or longer.

coralife or satellite - whats better?
foxbat426

Both Coralife and Current USA Satellite fixtures are good. Satellite comes with 2 white LED lunar lights if you like those. Satellite is minimalistic looking, Coralife has a nice aluminium type finish. I like the black finish, simple, pocket the $5 bucks and get a couple LEDs. The LEDs have a separate plug if you don't want them on all the time.

The Coralife Freshwater comes with nice tubes, The Satellite will require you to purchase 1 replacement unless you like the look of actinic. But the Satellite comes with one Sunpaq 6700/10000k tube, two of these would look better then 1 6700k and 1 10000k on each side, and better the 2x6700k that some with the Coralife.

You are welcome
