I got my oebt in January in New England, the water was like 50. Perfectly fine, good color and active. I actually feel way more comfortable ordering tigers in winter since they are cool water shrimp anyway, cold is WAY better than hot. I keep mine in 68 degree water and i would think properly insulated box wouldnt go much below 60. If you're looking for oebt hit me up when you're ready and ill hook you up. my population should be going along good again by then.

Got them setup @ ~ 7.4 PH, 5 GH 3 KH, 68.5 degrees F, TDS ~ 250.

That about right?

So many different parameter claims bouncing around.

I have great success with your exact parameters, i mean to a tee, except for tds. I start at around 200 and do a water change when it hits 220ish. Had it jump to 250 one time for an unknown reason, started noticing splits at the carapise, so i dropped it back down. I dont know if that was just because they were used to 200tds water though.

Thanks.

First fill, so despite RO I think some of the TDS reading is lava rock dust.

Maybe someone can help with this...

First time I've done the RO/DI water thing.

KH/GH still look good, but TDS is slowly rising in both tanks, at around 280 right now.

Want to get it down to about 200 without messing with KH/GH.

How would you go about it?

Whatever you are remineralizing your RO/DI water with, perhaps use a remineralizer that is "cleaner" in the sense that it will give you the same kH and gH as your tank but will have lower TDS and do a WC with it.

What are you using to boost kH and gH of your RO/DI water?

Salty Shrimp GH/KH+, which I am led to believe is one of the "cleanest" remineralizers out there.

Remineralized to about 200 TDS and 2.5 kh/5 GH, which is about what I want.

RO/DI is coming in at 1-2 TDS.

Confused where the random 80 is coming from. Drift wood and plants in the tank. No decaying plant material that I can see (just anubias and moss.) Substrate is lava rock.

Best guess is I didn't rinse the lava well enough and the TDS is residual dust?

I know it has been a while, but... Still waiting on the person I want to buy my OEBT from. Here is the 12 long. SUPER low light, no Co2, no dosing. Only N every added was a big chunk of repashy at the beginning. Couple of nerites and some pond snails. Tank is pretty mature now....

12G as a "CULL TANK"?

You must be seeking for trouble from the 12G Club. Lol. J/k

Nice setup for a "cull" tank!
