Cloudy water color

In the tank, the water looks like a white cloud. And has an odor.
In a white bucket, the water is light-green.
(its not pea soup however)

Is it a bacterial bloom, a GW bloom, or both ??
Can there be both ??

(sorry for no pictures).

(ammonia and Nitrite read 0).

I believe it is a mild case of green water. Watch your nutrients or it will probably get worse. I just experienced the same thing. I thought it was a bacterial bloom so i kept on fertilizing and feeding normally. 3-4 later the water got more cloudy and became more noticeably green.

Yeh you got both I would say... it happened to me not long after setting up a 56 gallon tank once. The white haze is bacterial and the green hint is the beginning of gw.
I battled it with futility for 3 weeks and finally parted with the cash and bought a diatom filter and it wiped it out in no time. Of course I havent used that filter since... :roll:
