Question

Evolve 4 stock light adequate?

I bought one at Pestmart today they were on clearance (curse my impulsive nature)... I didn't realize it was all plastic or that the "4" gallons is more like 2.7... also wtf with their fish suggestions on the box GBR and corys, really?

Anyways I am thinking of taking it back but I want to ask:
Is the light that comes with the Evolve 4 really enough to grow live freshwater plants?
If so would it be low or medium light?
Thanks for the info.

Definitely low light. I have crypts and anubias in mine and they are growing, but not thriving. Also I've had it for about 6 months now and the light is already starting to flicker Looking into getting a replacement light now.

I have an Evolve 4, but I got it from a local guy here in Denver so the stock light was missing. So I decided to go with 2 x 10" Finnex FugeRay 7000k LED fixtures, and the plants are going crazy!!!! Don't mind the dying dwarf hairgrass lol, I could never keep hairgrass alive, but I'm re-scaping the entire tank tomorrow and replacing the dwarf hairgrass with Brazilian Micro Sword.

Would that light quality as "medium" lighting for an evolve?

definitely low light. mine is also flickering after about 1 year of minimal use (I switched the stock light for a better light and put it on a 2g betta tank)

and yes, the filter chamber rips off the actual amount of floor space you can work with.
