Shrimp Jumped Out of Tank

This morning I turned on my light to check my shrimp. I saw one babaulti on one of my riparium planters eating off its surface. I was looking around the tank when something splashed me and I looked on the table that the tank sits on and saw a wet little body. I scooped it up and threw it back in it was that babaulti. She had an air bubble in her swimlets that took her a minute to release, but seems fine. I am concerned that this will happen when I'm not there, but I don't want to cover my tank. Was this just a freak thing?

Check your water params. If not correct, they will try to leave the water at times.

Also, if you don't use a lid, some people lower their water level so shrimp won't jump high enough to get out.

What about the other params? Is this the same tank as your other shrimp dropped their berries?

I keep my water 1- 1 1/2" lower on my no lid tanks. Sometimes they try to get out, sometimes it's just a flick movement if startled or attacked and they flick themselves right out of the water...on accident.

One of the babaultis did, but it was her first so I wasn't worried. Blue velvets have been having successful berries for months in this tank and I have two blue bees berried and doing well. None of the other shrimp are showing any signs of distress and that one looks fine. I feel like it was a reaction to the light, but I have lowered the water level. How can I keep the glass clean above the water? I have duckweed so it looks gross without water up to the top....

So the only params you take are kh and gh?

I'm confused about what is bothering you about the glass showing? Water spots?

I think he means that the duckweed has a tendency to stick to the glass and dry up at lower water levels.

I had a golden bee swimming and my fiance walked by the tank and the shrimp was frightened by the shake and popped right out of the tank! It was pretty crazy how it stood upright like a crawfish waving its arms around on the table, scared me when I noticed.

It's a good call to test all your important water parameters like others have said but sometimes it's just a random scare, especially if the tanks in a high traffic area.
