Any LFS or farms in FL that ship to hobbyists?

I'm considering a large order of some fish that aren't super typical but aren't super rare either. I've been looking at online vendors, but it seems most I find (e.g. Wetspot) are a bit far away from FL and I'm paranoid about shipping anything but express...which ends up costing almost as much as the order itself. Places like Aquabid also become expensive trying to buy from multiple sellers all at once.

Weather also concerns me as it's still fairly warm here but not so much the more north you get. I've done shipping in less than ideal weather before, but if I'm going to drop $100+ on fish, I want it to go as smooth as possible. Which is why, ideally, I'd like to keep it in state or at least restricted to the south east.

I've tried searching through Google but I'm coming up empty. Looking specifically for T. espei, T. pumila, A. sidthimunki, Apistogrammas (trifasciata or borellii possibly) among others that I haven't totally decided on. So nothing extremely rare, but things my LFS doesn't seem to ever have in stock. And yes, I have considered asking them to special order but that can also take time and I'm not exactly their biggest fan right now.

In an ideal world I'd have the time to take a trip down to maybe Orlando or Tampa to check out stores there, but I don't. So I'm hoping there's a Floridian on TPT that knows of some FL based vendors that have good and varied stock and are willing to ship to hobbyists. I know the state has some huge farms, but obviously I'm not interested in wholesale.

Thanks in advance!

Hmm... I haven't taken the time to actually see if the fish you mentioned are carried by these guys, but Florida Tropical Fish Direct (www.floridatropicalfishdirect.com) has a decent selection. They're located in the NE Florida region (I think), and offer cheap in-state shipping (don't know if it is overnight shipping, though). The Malawi cichlids I ordered from them arrived in excellent shape.

Thanks! I didn't see them on the list, but I may contact them and see if it's possible for them to order or if they just weren't listed.

I'm not too worried about finding cheap overnight within FL. Just that shipping priority from the west coast (for example) to FL, while it should be only a couple days, is unreliable and not covered by many vendors if you get any DOAs.

Try http://www.tropicalfishmiami.com/custom.aspx?recid=9

I don't know if they have exactly what you want, but they really have a ton of fish, and if you call and speak to them directly them may be able to be of help.

Thanks, like I said above they don't have exactly what I'm looking for listed...but I haven't got the chance to contact them about whether it would be possible to get them or not. I can't imagine it would be economical to have them acquire a special order and then have those fish shipped to me but I suppose it doesn't hurt to ask...

I looked at the site and I'm a bit hesitant to order from Europe, especially when that wholesaler has a minimum order of 5 boxes...

I am sorry I misunderstood you, I have access to whole sellers, but the quantities need to be much greater. How about the girl from dark water aquariums, some folks have had good luck with her

No worries. I looked at her latest stocklist already.

I ended up purchasing from out-of-state vendors, but thanks again to everyone who posted links to FL vendors. I have some new places to check out should I be looking in the future.

Hopefully everything ships well!

No fish yet, should be here next week sometime (two different orders). I'll be updating my journals when they arrive so anyone interested should stay on the look out for a new post from me
