Looking for place to buy Rocks/Driftwood NOVA

I was wondering if anyone knew a good place to buy some aquatic stone(lava rock or other large decorative rocks) and driftwood? I live in Fairfax VA.

I may have some DW available in the next few weeks. I took a trip out to California and picked up some Manzanita and shipped it back. I can then rehome my old DW (there are some nice pieces).

Other local places to check out are the Capital Cichlids Association and the GWAPA (Greater Washington Aquatic Plants Association). I haven't been to the latter but the CCA is an awesome community. Many of those members are also GWAPA members and have said good things about it.

If you're in Fairfax try checking along the Potomac or so. I've found some surprisingly nice pieces in the public parks at Old Town Alexandria. As far as rocks... unless you like river stone that is all I've been able to spot here. The LFS had some slate/zebra marble rock/ and some white coral looking rock. The also sell very nice large driftwood pieces but it is a very dark thick wood vs branchy so depends what you like.

A fish store in Charlottesville has some Pagoda stone, petrified wood and zebra stone ( http://aquascapes-cville.com/home ) for sale. Some driftwood, not much. I go to local rivers and try to find things unusual.

I get my stone from landscaping places. They weigh your car on the way in, and on the way out, and charge by weight. Super easy

I'm finding more and more people are doing this with high end scopes nowadays. Might have to take a trip down to the james this weekend. Though I worry about all the beer that probably gets tossed in there

I always boil anything I get for a few minutes to kill anything on it. Be careful with boilng rocks to long though, I have heard of them exploding. Few minutes won't hurt and should kill any of the nasty stuff.

Default PVAS auction

You might try the all day auction, Saturday, April 5, in Fairfax.
