How do I know if wood is treated with chemicals or other stuff?

there is actually a place on 48th street 8th avenue that has a lot of driftwood and what i think are petrified wood...I'll take a pic of them next time.

Someone else in the NY section mentioned they paid $3/lb for petrified wood @ a local fish shop, not sure which one it was though.. If you figure out which shop, mention it here & check to see if they have more pieces in the back. Also if you can take some pictures of the stack, I'd appreciate it.

Next time you see the driftwood guy, take a picture. That's what I'll do if I see him.

Pet warehouse by me sells petrified wood for i think 3.50 a lb... they had a few pieces last i looked... (near port jeff on 347) Suffolk LI

I think Pacific over in NYC has petrified wood for $3 a pound, though they didn't have any large pieces, only medium and small.
