55g Journal


Seeing how I am new to this forum I thought it would be good to have my journal here from when I started the tank to now. Bear with me there are quite a few photos

Light: Aquatic Life dual t5ho

Substrate: Black diamond blasting sand

Carbon: 30ml / day of excel

Root tabs: Diy root tabs 50/50 mix of Osmocote Flower and vegetable and Miracle grow Tomato Fruit and Vegetable plus calcium in size 00 gel cap

Fertilizers: EI dosing of dry ferts

Thanks! I have a red tiger lotus and some stargrass growing in the back left of my tank to fill out a little more so hopefully in a few weeks that will show up.

Yeah, but it's my baby. It's the first plant I ever bought It's not quite a problem yet since it's not shading out my other plants too badly.

Took out a big rock and added a large piece of driftwood that I found by the river in the spring right after the thaw. I ended up using super glue to stick it onto a piece of lace rock I had laying around.

I followed that up with a large rescape of my tank.

Absurdly Large temple leaf hygro:

Finished but cloudy:


I pulled 83 individual plants of Star repens out of my little carpet area and for the record... It takes FOREVER to plant that many of them
