Hygrophilia polysperma was banned!

the government currently have a ban on the sale of that plant why?

its cuz in certian states, if it was let into the wild, it could overun the system. polysperma is such a fast and adtative grower, it could out compete the native plants. but it is still legal in new york. do u have some of the very green type polysperma?

It's considered a noxious weed and because many people in the hobby do not handle it correctly so it ends up in waterways and destroys the habitat for the natural inhabitants.

Lol its always been banned, just make sure you kill it before throwing it away

Yeah, it's not a new ban. I believe that the ban applies to all strains of the plants as well....ie, sunset hygro, h. polysperma 'rosanervig', etc.
It's always best to play it safe and don't sell it. If you own some (no problem doing this), just excercise responsibility. Dry it out and either put it down the garbage disposal, wrap it in paper towel and throw away, etc.

that ban has been around for awhile. Lately they seem to either be discussing more or actually looking into the sale of anacharis, we wont be carrying it at work anymore so once again time for me to get another small sprig and maintain it in my tanks so i can use it and not have to hunt some down. Thats the main reason i keep H polysperma around..unless i get it from another hobbyist i can't legally get it.

Thankfully i have an anacharis bush in my goldfish tank i can snip some off as well.

Yea, the ban's b een around for a few years.

RE; anacharis, i've heard that it would take over a streem, even blocking boat travel, but then it transformed to it's "female" form.
