I am being over run with malaysian trumpet snails and I even found a few pond snails today. I don't want anythign that gets big and I don't want a bunch of them. Can anyone recommend one that will do ok by itself and eat snails like mad? And yes I know it's overfeeding that causes them to breed so fast. I probably put in more algae and cory food than need but I have some pigs in my tank that go after the bottom feeder food regardless of how dark the tank is. Seems they realize the hood is up and are on alert. One little disturbance of the water and they are swarming looking for food. Anyway I really need to cut down on these snails.

Clown loaches will love them.
Yo yo loaches will eat them but be better for your plants. a dwarf freshwater puffer would like them as well, but they're tail biters

Search some of the many discussions, perhaps you could get some ideas, for example http://www.plantedtank.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=4735
Or consider to collect them trumpets, and sell 10 for $1 to your fellow aquarians, and retire rich?

I got (I think) a zebra loach--B. striata (?).
He's not getting big. He doesn't eat snails, either. So don't get one of those! |
