filter for 29gal

Is it a good idea to use internal filter on 110liter(~29gal) tank? if so which one of these two
"aquael turbo 500" (500liter/hour, manufacturer rates upto 150liter tank)
or
"aquael turbo 1000" (1000liter/hour, manufacturer rates 150-250liter tank)

i need filter to run silently, thats why im looking at internals. do i have other options?

here is a link for those filters i have selected http://www.aquael.com/index.php?opti...id=236&lang=en

Canisters, heck even my aqueon HOB is silent unless the water level dips.

Most canisters are fairly silent. The only noise I've ever heard come from my sunsun 302 was it expelling air.

canisters are quite silent, though i will say, if you are looking for a higher flow and dont want to break the bank, I run an AQ70 on my 40b and love it, GREAT filter (soon to be replaced with a sunsun 403b though)

I have a 303B, it did it a lot in the beginning and it's starting to do it now. Time to clean it, I suppose. I am surprised even the cheap canisters, like SunSun, are so quiet.

isn't canisters in general more noisy than internal filters? i need it not just be quiet, i need it to be super quiet. i tend to sleep in that same room often. to compare, noise that comes from any mechanical clock ticking is unacceptable

I think canisters are quieter, the most you'll hear is the hum of the motor. Unless the canister isn't maintained well, you'll hear more.

Consider it white noise, if you even hear anything from a good quality canister filter. I find the gentle hum of the ceiling fan helps me sleep anyways.

I use a fluval u3 on a 33g, it's extremely quiet. Pain to clean the filter pads but very quiet.

Nope. Generally its the opposite. Although they vary by manufacturer. I run a Eheim 2213 on my 29g with a 10g sump. Yes my 2213 is the pump for my sump. The loudest thing I hear on my setup is actually the fans on my ebay lighting kit.

I have never used internal filters so I can't speak on it. I will say that both my Eheim canisters and my little Zoo Med are dead silent. My Zoo Med is in my bedroom and I have had HOB's and the tiny bit of noise they make keep me up. I have had various Eheims in my recording studio and with a stand, I don't need to turn the filters off during recording. I turn anything off that makes the slightest noise. In my new stand that is basically totally sealed on all sides, outside of three 1.5 inch holes, I can't even hear my Eheim that is still purging air and somewhat loud right now.

I guess my point is canisters are dead silent once the air is out but being in the stand makes any small amount of noise even less noticeable. Once my Eheim purges the air, I bet my lights will be louder, something I can only test with my measurement mic as I likely won't be able to hear either.
