CO2 in MN

I am looking at going to a pressurized co2 system, and I am wondering what local sources are for co2. I figured this would be a good resource for others as well.

So Far

Toll Welding supply has 7 locations in the twin cities they sell the cyllanders and fill the bottles

I used to live a less then mile from Toll Gas in Plymouth. That was the first place I went for CO2, but quickly found out they were charging higher prices. Cracked open the yellow pages, called up almost everyone under welding, and Minneapolis O2 was the cheapest supplier I could fine. That was the middle of last year though and things could be different now, but giving them a call to see if they will work out for ya.

I got both my tanks from Minneapolis Oxygen Company....

very reasonably priced...I got my 5 lb for 50 ...and 10 lb for 70...

refill on both are I think 9 bucks and 12 bucks....

I also contacted Pepsi they are in Burnsville and will only send it to a resteraunt but it is a $75 deposite and $18 to refill on a 20#

Dude! I work a block from Washington Avenue in Minneapolis! I could take a stroll on over there to get my CO2 bottles refilled!

Well, I just wanted to state that I have contacted all of the places listed and Minneapolis Oxygen was the most courtous on the phone. AND they had a great price, I went there today, the store off of lyndale and the guy who ran it was awsome, even helped me with my regulator. Gotta give them a Plug

Well, dang it! The price sure has gone up. $65 for a 5lb now.

I suppose they're probably still the cheapest though.

Need to know any updated info for the twin cites. Just ordered the semi auto from dr foster and smith and need to get myself a tank. WHere have you all gotten yours here in the cities????

I still get it from Minneapolis Oxygen Company...

@kimrin...it really depends....they have sales every now and then...

I just happened to walk into one a few months ago....and upgraded my 10lb to a 20lb at a kickass price...

the main thing is gonna be....which size tank you are gonna purchase...
which is a one time high initial cost....depending on size...

after that the refill is between 9 -12bucks..

so there aint gonna be that much difference..."refilling" a 5-10-or 20 lol

and ofcourse...the first time you buy the cylinder...the first fill is free

Definitely go to Minneapolis Oxygen. They are by far the best to deal with, if you call around to some other welding supply shops you'll see what I mean. The guy at the Bloomington location ((952) 884-5286) was very nice and was used to dealing with others in the hobby. After I called he picked out and saved a brand-new shiny 20lb for me!

5 lb. is a good size. It lasts six months or so and fits under most aquarium stands.

I know this thread is old... I only was only able to find a couple places in Rochester, MN so far.. and the cheapest I have found is the local Praxair distributor.. he said 65.00 and then 9.xx to refill and they just exchange them because they are filled in the cities. The other place here in town wanted 95 for the 5lb tank.. he said the 10lb tank is about the same price but 20.xx to fill.
