Is there a site that has fish recommendations? I am thinking like, not specific fish, but things like... This many fish total. This many top middle bottom feeders, this many shrimp, this many XXX...

Make sense?

To be a little more specific I guess.

I am looking for recommendations like:

you need 1/4 bottom dwellers, 1/2 mid waters, 1/4 top waters, with some shrimp and snails for algae control.

In the 1/4 bottom you need to have a least a few xxx to make sure the tank is cleaned properly...

that is the kind of info I am looking for. Does that make sense?

Don't think there is such a site but as for numbers it varies on many factors. Bioload, size and temperament of fish, what you are looking for. I am setting up a 75 myself and slowly stocking it. I will have 4 Pearls gouramis (4 in in size) for the top, 2 schools ( ember tetras, Harlequin Rasboras) for the center, and for the bottom 2 small sets of cories total around 14 and a few oto's around 7 or so. Depending on how you plant some fish may not be seen all the time. I would think of what your main fish will be to keep and build around that. Example don't keep Neons with Angels they will turn into food.

So I have been reading... many people advise to not stock all at once. My question is, with the cost of shiping being so high, is there a way to stack around 75% or so, or is that still looking dangerous?

The issue with stocking so many all at once is the bio in your filter will not be able to adjust to handle it that fast. Bio colony in your filter will only grow to what is needed. I would increase by 1 species at a time. Smaller the fish the more you can put in at a time but don't drop like 100 neons all in at once. Break it up to about 20 each week.

Will supplementing excel or using a DIY Co2 system, bother the tank cycling?

Is money the only reason you are not considering pressurized?
