How small you looking for and what do you want to do with it?
Is the amount of light produced important? How about light type?

I use this:

I also replace the cord with: textile braided power cord
And install any Daylight 6500K from fleabay

I hope this helps.

Light produced is not super important. It would be for a low tech nano tank. paronaram's suggestion is the right idea, but too big. the smallest zoomed is 5.5 inches. I'm looking for tiny.

Its dirt cheap to throw one together yourself. Its not all that complicated to make. Im not sure of US wiring, but over here theres only 2 out of the 3 (live and neutral) wires needed. For the one I built the bulb was the most expensive part.
Plug 0.50
Cable 1.10
Fixture 0.75
Bulb 3.50

If lighting emitted isn't important and you want something tiny, consider a Deep Blue Professional Solar Flare. Usually under $15.

+1
A great little light for the low price (closer to $23 after shipping).
