Hehe I thought so... good camera. I use a G3
For fish pictures, I use TV mode to force the flash to sync with 1/250 sec instead of the "normal" 1/60s. Makes pictures of fast-moving fish really possible.
The problem with full tank pics isn't so much overexposure, but the contrast between plants that are directly under the lights, and the ones close to the substrate. Having plants cover up part of the surface doesn't help, since it makes the bottom areas even darker.
I end up making an overexposed and an underexposed image and combining the best of the two.

Canon G series club! I love my G1, best digital I have ever owned. I will have to try the 1/250 trick. I normally don't use a flash at all for the fish tank. I just get the room dark and go-for-it.

I am thinking about getting a female for my guppy. Good idea? Bad idea? Live fry would be a treat for my fish but I am afraid I might end up with a tank full of guppies. Never done the livebearer thing before.

you will end up with a tank full of guppies, no doubt about it. They aren't called the millions fish without reason.

Hello plantguy,

Could you tell me the name of that very green, thin-leaved plant that borders both side of the red plant in the middle. I'm looking to make a very green tank (my first planted tank actually), and I'm getting lost in the latin.

BTW, I think the slight shift of the slate, and addition of the java fern was a great move. Much nicer.

Thanks,
Ted

Hi unirdna,

Honestly, I am not sure what the name of the spiky foreground plants are (I am assuming you are talking about the ones to the left of the red plant). I dont see them on tropica.com, I just picked them out because they looked like a nice foreground plant. I am sure somebody here knows the name. Suggestions?
