CookieM: ADA Aqua Soil is created for planted tanks - not shrimp. So Amazonia will always likely have that initial ammonia burst for plants... and to cycle the tank.

I've had Amazonia in some tanks for more than five years, no breakdown at all. Tom Barr has tanks that have run for 8+ years with no issues.

Loumeer: Follow Phil Edwards. He'll probably be one of the first to know when it hits the market.

I hope that they do offer it again.

Would be great for some nano tank applications.

Pretty, doesn't fall apart, buffers.

What size should I buy. I want to do an Undergravel filter with it.

My options are ~1mm ~3mm ~5mm. Anybody have any suggestions. I know it's not available yet but I want to be able to jump the gun the minute it is.

You could use 3 or 5, since you'd likely be covering the undergravel pipes up with something like lava rock before adding the substrate.
