2.5 gal betta ideas?!

Looking at all of these great nanos makes me want to put my empty 2.5 to use!
First: Is a betta my only possible fish?
Second: Equipment? I have a heater I could use but that is it at the moment. Filter? Hood or not? etc?
I'll take any advice, suggestions or ideas!

I use the Azoo mignon 60 on my 2.5 and 3g tanks and they work great. I modify the filter media to function more like AC hob's and my betta's are happy and healthy.

I use a sponge filter I got from [Ebay Link Removed] It's pretty small, inexpensive (maybe $3) and when you burry part of it in the tank it really only takes about a square inch. I like the filters like the one a person above suggested but I just didn't want to spend that much on a filter so small ^^; Plus I use glass cover on my tanks and, with the sponge filter, I don't really have to cut them.

That sponge filter idea would work great because i could keep my screen cover and not purchase a hood. How do they work?

I use finnex 5pf filter. Almost the same as azoo. Nice nano filter.
