ADA 30-C and DIY stand, pea puffers...

Putting together a simple setup at my daughter's request for her room. Finished painting the stand yesterday, here it is in situ:

I'll be using a Fluval C3 HOB filter since I have one as well as Eco-Complete and a Finnex Fugeray-R (don't really want the blue of the regular Fugeray and par seems about the same). Low-tech, Flourish Excel and some dry ferts from GLA.

Not really sure about flora/fauna but probably mosses/anubias. Fish TBD.

Thanks for looking!

Edit 12/7: Current setup details:

Light: Finnex Fugeray-R Wavepoint 12" 10,000k 3 x DBP Solar Flare Micro 6700k LED
Filter: Eheim 2213 w/ Fluval surface skimmer
Heater: Hydor Cobalt 50w
Substrate: Eco Complete with Osmocote Plus added to bottom of tank first.

Ferts: EI "low-light". Macro solution (KNO3/KH2PO4) Sat/Tues and Micro solution (CSM+B w/ added DTPA Iron) later on same days. ~70% water change on Sat before dosing. Daily dose of Excel spiked with Fe Gluconate.
RO/DI adjusted to 5dGH and 2dKH with GH Booster and Potassium bicarbonate. Heated/mixed 24 hrs. prior to use.

Flora: C. Wendtii, needle leaf Java fern, Rotala Rotundifolia

Fauna: 3 x Amano shrimp, 3 x Otocinclus, 4 x Harlequin rasbora 3 x Dwarf Pea Puffer

FTS as of 12/29.

Nice color on the stand! But the legs looks a little dangerous?

Thanks! The legs are notched/screwed/glued and can support me so 7 gallons will be easy.

Your daughter appears to be about the same age as mine. Mine is 9. Very cool tank and stand. I'm sure she'll love it.

Thanks guys! Rodney - yes, she'll be 7 in a couple days.

I like the betta idea, CK, but I think that's off the list since that's what in my other daughter's (2 1/2) room residing in a 2-gallon Spec.

Very nice stand. How about some shrimp for her? Some Neos are easy to keep and fun to breed.

Hehe - thanks.

bitFUUL - Yes, shrimp and Ottos will almost certainly be a part. I've never kept shrimp but was thinking some Amanos to help with algae?

Also, ordered a Finnex PX-360 as I prefer canisters when it comes down to it and that one seems great for this size tank.

You should give your daughter a list with pictures of what types of fish she can have and let her decide from there! Let her help as much with setting it up and picking stuff as she can/wants to I have found that to be a great bonding experience!

Thanks, Jessica! Although I've decided to make the hardscape decisions myself lest we wind up with a tank full of Spongebob kitsch, she gets the idea of a natural setup and has been enjoying surfing with me for potential fauna. :-)

That's really cool! You did a great job making the stand fun and suited to her age. I'm sure she'll get lots of enjoyment out of it!

Thanks AH! Love your tanks. :-) She picked that blue off the shelf at Home Depot (pink is now passe', apparently) but I thought it'd be too much on its own so I used the antique white (to match her bed and armoire) to offset it.
