I have a 58 gallon reef ready Oceanic tank that I'm planning on setting up as a planted tank. I want to connect the overflow and return to an Eheim canister filter and hook up a CO2 reactor to the return line. Now, I'm trying to decide what size canister to use. I'm debating between the 2026 or 2028. I'd like some opinions on whether or not the 2028 would put too much outflow into the tank.

I also plan to make a spraybar outflow like this one: http://reefcentral.com/forums/showth...hreadid=156708

Would this be a good option for a planted tank? I think it would help eliminate any dead spots.

Thanks,
Adam

I think the 2026 is a great choice, the 2028 would probably be a bit too much...

The flow difference is not that much between the two. I run a 2026 on a 29 gallon, no problem, and I run a 2028 on a 45 gallon without a problem. I would suggest the 2028.

The 2028. It holds more media. I agree with George, the difference in flow won't really matter.

Do you think the spray bar in the link in the first post would be a good idea for this tank? Or would the nozzle that came with the Oceanic plumbing provide enough circulation in the tank?

I prefer spraybars over nozzles.

Get the 2028. More media.

I run a 2026 on a 30G and wished I would have gotten the 2028.
