Sweet rock. They'll look nice in the setup.

Let me know how the blasting slag works out. I've heard complaints about it being very sharp but it can't be worse than Eco-complete.

it looks and feels exactly like fine sand but seems heavier.

cool. It should be excellent for a planted tank as it contains 7% iron oxide in its makeup. I'll be watching your progress. Good luck.

Note on the blasting grit from menards, when I put it in the tank there is a fine top layer of brown, tan sediment. this quickly, especially with some mts or other bottom dwellers disappears to be replaced by all black

Well time for an update. My wife left the camera at the inlaws so...

base was MTS, but I doidn't think with the blasting grit I would have a deep enough substrate so I added 1 bag of MGOPM. to minimize mess in the tank I made the MTS very think put in the tank and let is sit overnight. The MGOPM and then the cap. Filled the tank a few inches and tried to press air bubbles out. Filled tank about 1/2 way then planted.

Next day I drained most of the tank and planted the uterly annoyng and time consuming M Minuta, and refilled.

Tank has been almost 100% clear from first fill.
I had been using 3 DIY yeast co2 up until this past sat.

Now I am not running co2 because I hate all the little bubbles. I run my T5no bulbs for 10hours +/- but the CFLs for only 3 hours +/-.

All puffers are gone.

I now have RAINBOW FISH

picked them up sat from a local breeder

10 Praecox
5 Pseudoincisus
5 Boesemani
5 Turquoise

the turquoise are the largest at 1.5" or so and have some color,
the boesmani have a hint or tinge of color,
the pseudoincisus are just silver with one maybe having a pencil thin red outline on some fins,
the Praecox vary a lot in size, some obvious females, and somecolor on some males, probably most about 1" and one or two in the 1.75-2" range.

Food will be white worms, almostnatural color flakes and almostnatural spirulina flakes, may add omega one color flakes as well.
--learned I have to cruch all the flakes up to small pieces soak in water a minute and use a turkey baster to inject them in the Tank.. The smaller fish won't tackle the large flakes,

Tank has not really changed, plants have grown in repeatedly and I have trimmed repeatedly.

Stock is still the same. Added a satellite LED color enhancing fancy thing. pretty fun.

Bows have all grown and colors are really getting great. The psuedoincisus males turn an almost salmon color in the morning during their flashing routines. I'm sure their color will improve...fins changed color a few weeks ago and body color only really changed in the past 1-2 weeks.

these pics are with a cell phone vs my usual crappy camera.

Man I miss my 75 gallon. This is exactly what I would hope to do with it if I could have it back again. Great job! Would you mind to name the plants that you have in there?
