Another canister question

Hi all,
I currently have a Whisper 3 HOB filter and a Magnum 220 canister in my 75 Gal planted tank.........I have a Magnum 350 canister on the way to replace the Whisper. My question is.........what media is best? I currently run the micron filter in the Magnum. Should I run the micron in both?

My preferred filter media are sponges. I am not sure what is available for the magnum 350, but the "Rite Size Foam Sleeves" that fit over the micron cartridges don't cut it IMO.
The micron cartridges are excellent for mechanical filtration, but they will clog fairly quickly, and then you'd have to bleach them etc.
Ceramic rings, lava rock etc are good for biological filtration (large surface, just as sponges), but again, I am not sure where and how to fill the magnum with those.

I love my 350 Magnum but...the Rite Size jobbies are a real pain....expensive and really messy to clean when trying to save money. The H.O.T. Magnum uses a foam prefilter and it works like a charm. One can only hope that they'll improve the product line with foam for the other Magnums. I use the prefilter with the micron and change out weekly on a heavily planted and populated 120 with a Penguin 330 helping out.
