Aaaahhh, thanks for all the replies!

I'll be looking for that writeup on the test kit! I was noticing a lack of consistency on mine at home.

Tom Barr and Hoppy have both been very helpful to me and have earned my ear because they seem to value the same ideas that I do.

I honestly just stumbled upon the shop on here and I am so excited to use this over previous retail sites I have purchased from, Thanks shocked!

Can anyone recommend any books in particular I can use as reference material?

Thanks again! (P.S. - I've heard children work well, Gingers do a great job of giving plants that perfect extra 'kick' of color)

Diana Walstad "Ecology of the Planted Aquarium"

The Baensch Aquarium Atlas series has a lot of good fish info. There is a lot of plant info there, too. Look for them on discount book sites, or used. They are quite expensive if you pay full price.

Don't depend on TPT as your sole source of info. There are other good forums such as APC, The Barr Report, UKAPS, etc. There are also others in Europe and Asia which make google translate very useful.

I use Dr. Tim's 'one and only' to start tanks. Works for me.
