Ok soooo, listened to all of your awesome tips, let the water run for a while and everything. Here is what I got.

Rain Water - 0
Tank Water - 0.25
Well Water - 1

What the heck? LOL! I tested 2x from the tap just incase I didn't let it run long enough and it was even darker the second time. I am just confused since the tank water seems to be lower....could it be because I have Purigen in there? Could I still try to keep some hardy snails at least like Ramshorns or MTS if I keep up with Purigen or Poly-Fiber or something?

Oh and it is an older home with copper pipes. As pipes go we are working on replacing them with PVC but it will be years before they are all replaced.

Asphalt Art - small world! I actually grew up in Brooklyn, NY so I wouldn't know much about Pottstown before the lanes went down, but late nights you can still cruise pretty well You probably could during the day too if people could figure out how to merge....seems simple enough! LOL!

So I guess MTS or Ramshorns are a no go?

Yeah those angled parking spaces downtown used to be the outer lanes. I cannot tell you how many times I left the lights at some of those intersections with no more than the rear tires on the ground. The turnaround was the McDonald's where the lanes went back to two, and everyone who wasn't driving was packing the sides of the street every Friday and Saturday night. All of the real races were set up at the McD's and were done on HWY 222 on the straighter sections.

When they dropped the lanes down, the town died literally and financially. There was that much money coming into it every weekend. If Performance Specialties (speed shop) is still open downtown stop by and ask them how it used to be. They used to run a dyno in the parking lot

Distilled water or spring water for water changes. If you are just topping off you'll be fine. For water changes you'll have to mineralize the water just like you would tap water...

Pro
No need to worry about any unbalanced readings, so mineralizing should be simple.
Everything should read 0.

Cons
It's going to cost you a few bucks depending on how much water you need.

Thanks guys! I guess I need to decide if it is really that big of a deal to me to just have fish only. I appreciate all the help though! I am going to look into re-mineralizers.
