I dunno, aside from them being eaten by community fish, never really had any issues with RCS...they are supposed to be hardier than other shrimp, though.

Nice rat, artresz! I had many of them growing up, awesome pets.

I've been pretty lucky with RCS and bettas alike so I suppose it comes down to personal preference. (Hence, multiple tanks haha!)

Thanks, I love rats! Her name was Tizzy, she was a sweetheart. =]

Well, I still have a few months until the moss has done its growing, so maybe that'll change.

Not much to update...I trimmed the plants showing growth, replanted the cut stems. Interestingly, the collection of red plants surrounding that...bigger red plant...are growing new roots. I'm thinking I'll attempt to cut/plant one or two of them, see what happens.

Cross-post from the 20G shrimparium journal... a somewhat more informed plant list...
  • Java moss (TAXIPHYLLUM BARBIERI)
  • Water wisteria (HYGROPHILA DIFFORMIS)
  • Java fern (MICROSORUM PTEROPUS)
  • Barclaya Longfolia
  • Ludwigia Palustris (or LUDWIGIA REPENS X L. ARCUATA)
  • Callitriche Terrestris (?)
  • Bacopa monnieri (?)
  • Some sort of bacopa? (bottom looks like b. monnieri, top looks like...?)
  • CRYPTOCORYNE CRISPATULA VAR. BALANSAE

Some pictures going up later today.

Update summary....
  1. Snails! Also a worm (it is dead). Not sure where it came from...
  2. Added lighting onto the timer.
  3. Growth is huge (to me). Everything is growing, even the barclaya longfolia! (albeit slowly)
  4. Trimmed the bacopa and wisteria, put some into the 50G.
