i got my pressurized co2 setup last week. currently i am up to 12ppm but the tank does not have fish (all in qt right now) and i am running an ac500 (eheim 2026 on order). i have the tanks water level just below the lip of the as500. this seems to minimize surface agitation but, obviously, not eliminate it. i'm putting in about 3 bubbles per second and utilizing a diy co2 reactor.
what is your gut instinct?? will the canister and fish give enough co2 to bring it up to the 20ppm range. |

Could you give us a few more water quality parameters, maybe the size of the tank too?

55 gallon tank ... sorry, i thought i included that.
last night the kh was 3.9 and the ph was 7. as there are not fish in there, i have not tested for nitrates, nitrites, or ammonia. nutrients are in the mail so i have not yet started testing those parameters. i have all the test kits. if it matters i can run those tests and let you know. right now my light levels are low but, i have lights on order too. it will have 2 55w 9325k power compacts and 2 t8 32w 10,000k fluorescents (3.16 wpg). the current stock of fish in qt are: cardinal tetras -- 8 white skirt tetras -- 6 red eye tetra -- 3 guppies -- 9, 3 males, 3 females, 3 fry cory cat -- 1 snails -- too many of those little buggers to count. |

When you say that you got no fish in the tank, cause you are quarantining them, the question came to my mind, WHY?
If there are no fish in who are you protecting, it woud make sense to me though to quarantine fish before they go in a tank with fish allready living there... Not being difficult, just questioning what I don't understand in order to learn...

ich ... the information i searched up indicated the best way to treat an infected planted tank was to remove the fish to qt and treat them there. i setup the qt for this purpose but, at least now i have one so i should not have to do this again (providing the information i searched up is accurate, of course).

So, they were in the tank but got sick? Then you put them in quarantine for treatment? If so, that would make sense to me.
