I got a bunch of these guys from nyxkitten, hoping they'll breed. I love the snails all over the glass.

I love mine. I'm thinking of getting more for the 18g. The two in my 7.5g seem to like to hang out together and sometimes rest/sleep next to each other.

How big do these guys need to get before they start breeding?

Well, our male is a monster -- larger than a golf ball. The female is smaller, but still pretty large. I'd say that her shell is about 1.25 in. in diameter. The thing about mystery snails is that they either dedicate their energy to mainly one purpose at a time -- Growing, Reproduction, and Shell repair. Our snails haven't grown any larger since they started making snail love )) Our female lays an egg clutch about once every 4-5 days now. We wouldn't consider separating them, they sleep together all the time, sometimes even on each other. It's hilarious, but really cute at the same time.
