My 15g forest

Well I'm finally happy with my tank, so I thought I'd share some pictures with y'all. Enjoy the show!

Front tank shot, pico reef to the right

"lion king music" THE CIIIIIRCLLLEEE... THE CIRCLE OF LIIIFFFFEEEE.

Uhh... Excuse me, in trying to take a picture of my shrimp.

Nom Nom Nom blood worm

Please excuse the algae, it's a work in progress. Hope you enjoyed it!

You have puffer/s...with shrimp...and the shrimp still exist?
(Also looks good, but too much protein is bad for shrimps)

Haven't had any problems yet, was well aware when considering getting puffers lol. Luckily they don't bother the shrimp at all! And the shrimp eat mainly algae wafers and bio film in the tank. The occasional blood worm is a great treat! The shrimp thrive on the diet I give them so why change it

Hello. Nice tank but that puffer will eat your shrimp Im sure of that. Their diet consist in moluss and other imvertebrates. I recomend you to take it out. Nice tank anyway:thumbup:

circle of life and all that but...don't you want to get that dead fish out? the amount of ammonia that thing is going to pump into the water way outweighs letting it become shrimp food!

Thats a great looking setup. Also, one great lesson in fishkeeping - fish change their behavior and they are opportunists. What this means is that although your puffers aren't touching your shrimp yet, its quite possible and highly likely that this behavior will change in the future.

Now, if you're ok with that bc the shrimp outproduce any lost to the puffers, then that's fine. But I am 99.99% sure that the puffers will ultimately begin snacking on them. Its highly unlikely that you managed to get a puffer that bucks its natural prey and became a majority vegetarian lol!

Your tank looks great, especially with the shrimp climbing all over that flora - makes their red pop.

What are your parameters? Are you using injected C02?

Oh I'm fully aware, the shrimp by far out produce my two little puffers I haven't checked my parameters in a long time cause it has been stable for so long. I'm using the hagen DIYish setup, which works surprisingly well.

Not a single shrimp has gone missing yet (as far as I can see) and I'm constantly watching the tank. I do keep the puffers very well fed so I'm sure that helps.

I dont see why it would be a problem. I've kept small schools of puffers with CRS with no problems as long as the puffers were well fed. At night I could even see shrimplets climbing on the puffers. What I learned though, if you miss a feeding, the puffers will try to munch on the shrimp. Being the lazy fish they are though, keep them fed and the shrimp, will be fine. I'm sure they wouldn't complain about the occasional snail in there diet either!
