12" pleco-- tank or pond?

I am rescuing a 50 gallon tank and one if its inhabitants is an enormous spotted plecostamus-- 10-12 inches maybe, and I am not to thrilled to have it around. I had smaller one once and he was nasty. At his size, does he need to be in a pond? He seems too big to be happy in a 50 gallon tank-- how big a space does he need? I am thinking about rehoming him, or maybe taking him back to the store he came from 2 years ago. It certainly can't be safe to release him into a lake or pond, could it?

6 platys, 6 black skirt tetras, 10 neons, 6 glo-light tetras
50G high tech, a tank of rescues: 12' pleco, clown loach, striped raphaelle catfish
platy/community tank?

No. Never release a non-native species into a lake or pond unless its a pond you built in your yard. Not only is it bad for the environment, it is illegal

Whatever you do don't release him into a local body of water. Florida already has enough problems with invasive species as it is, with plecos being an example. 50 gallons is on the small side for a fish of that size. Your best bet is taking it back to the store.

Please don't release a pleco into an open water way. This is what happens

Security Question
While balancing on a piece of wood, two inches by four inches known as a 2x4, John and his friend Sally both spotted a dalmatian inside of a truck with sirens. The animal with John and Sally is a _ _ _?
