Hello Planted Tank!

I have been using this website for a while now but have finally got an account! I have a 176l tank that has been runnning for almost a year. Check my tank for info
http://www.plantedtank.net/forums/yo...o=view&id=5594
I have some questions:
In Winter my nitrates reach 50mg/l, could i keep cherry, amano, or bamboo shrimps in these conditions?
My sterba's cories are infected with what i now think is slime disease, got some interpet no 7 from LFS yesterday hope they will pull through.
What would be the best foreground grass like plant for my light 2.3 WPG.
My water is very hard and has high nitrates, should i consider an RO unit or buying RO water from LFS?
I am running DIY yeast CO2 atm, any suggestions for cheap pressurized CO2 and diffuser?
I have two female Pearl Gouramis, one is very dominant, chasing the other, would getting a male help or would he be even more aggressive?
My two confirmed siamese flying foxes no longer eat algae, what would be best for eating brown and green algae on glass and sometimes hair algae, in my water?
I am considering returning my emperor tetras (Who are slightly aggressive) and buying some neons or cardinal tetras but not sure they can cope with my hard water.
Thanks for any replies!

How old are the foxes? I've heard that as they get older they quit eating so much algae. My clown loach does a good bit of algae eating, mostly off the driftwood and rocks.
