what's up new yorkers....where can I get ottos in NYC/LongIsland?

Hello. I'm going to Long Beach tomorrow for a birthday party and would like to pick up some ottos from a store that would be close to Long Beach NY. I will be driving through Queens.

Hopefully I get some answers overnight.

thanks for your help.

Here is the link of the directions that I'm taking:

The only place in Queens that regularly carries them is Fishtown USA but I'm not sure of their availability at the moment. If you're willing to head a bit North to Carle Place, Pets Warehouse should have otos. I'd call before trekking out any of these stores to see if they have otos in stock though.

Pets warehouse in carle place had them last weekend. 3.99 ea i believe. they have quite a large number of fw tanks. worth stopping by if you are in the area.

I typically stop by every other week there.

Google search any petland on the way. They usually have them.

petsmart usually carry them for $2.50 each. you can also try Parrots of the World
316 Sunrise Hwy, Rockville Centre, NY 11570. Not 100% sure if they had ottos last time i went.

So I ended up going to Northern Aquarium since it was exactly on the way back. It was also convenient that they stayed open until late. I picked up 4 ottos for 10 bucks. At first some non english speaking guy tried to say they are being sold under "ALGAE EATER" which were double the price. The tank was full of ottos and there was writing on the tank that explicitly said "OTOCINCLUS - $2.50". Quite honestly I do not care about a few bucks but I thought they were trying to take advantage of me since I didn't seem to fit in, especially in my beach attire. haha.

Now a dumb question....is flushing the same as China Town? PS. I used to live in NYC so I should know this.

I liked the store and the area....parking situation is terrible though.

Northern aquarium as in the one on the corner?
You could've went to Fish Town U.S.A. They have really nice salt/fresh water fish there along with plants. I've seen oto cats go for 1.10 to 1.50 there. Theres this store I think it was called Pets Warehouse. I drove by it a couple of times and until recently I decided to go in, thinking they only sold accessories for cats and dogs. When I went inside I was amazed! More than half of the store was aquatics. They even had nurse sharks.
Flushing isn't the same as China Town. China Town is more of a classic chinese and Flushing is more modernized. Flushing is like a place for people to hangout.
The non speaking english guy was the guy with the tattoos right?

I do not recall seeing any tattoos...it was a younger kid. Most of them did not smile and seemed pretty damn serious haha. Fish are very serious business. I almost bought a dog too...thank God I didn't.

I will be back next time I drive by....one of my ottos already jumped out overnight so I'm down to 3.

Nah most of the time they have english speaking personnel on the floor... but that time i went there there is a worker there only speaks mandarin.. $2.50 is not a bad price~ i just go there for convenience and they have pretty rare fishes, and i rarely compare prices.
