Fading Lunars?
When I set up my tank, I installed two Coralife Aqualight 3/4W Lunar Blue-Moon-Glow LED Lights onto my Coralife fixture. I moved recently, and decided I wanted more lunar light. I ordered, received and installed 2 more of the same lunars, and when they came on that night I was AMAZED at how bright they were as compared to the ones I had previously installed. I cleaned the LED's on the old lamps and it didn't seem to make much difference. Now, I cannot remember if the old lamps were this bright when I initially installed them. Maybe they weren't.
Has anyone else observed "fading" of their lunars?

ARe you using separate transformers for the old and new ones? Maybe the old transformer's getting a little tired.

Nah, I'm just using the adapters they come with. They're identical to the older ones. They don't wear out do they?

Mine have faded pretty dramatically. In a new hood, I can see by the lunar lights. On my hoods where they run all the time (no on/off switch), they're putting out barely any light by the time the hoods are 2 years old.

Weird...when I had my Sunpod on my 90g the moonlighting was fantastic...now on the 75g a month or two later and I am not soo impressed.

Keep in mind, all LEDs are not the same. Some have dramatically shorter lifespan than others. The lunar links I have on my tank are rated for something like 10k hours.

I thought the benefit of LED is they do not burn out or fade hence them being used in today's vehicle tail lights...No not just those aftermarket hondas.

Not all LEDs are created equally. Some have a much higher MCD rating. Coralife may just be using a superior LED now making your original lights look dim.

The originals and the secondary sets were the exact same lights - both Coralife Aqualight 3/4W Lunar Blue-Moon-Glow LED Lights...
It has been several months since I added the "newer" ones, and today they are as dim as the older ones!

LED's generally do have a much longer lifespan then incandecent bulbs due to their cooler running nature. But as stated. Nothing is forever.
