Why does my Coralife T5 light strip flash continuously? even the new one

I bought a 2nd hand Coralife T5 48" double light strip. I bought 2 life glo t5 48" for it. It worked for about a week then it started flashing continuously yesterday. I unplugged and plugged, I've swtiched the bulbs sides and direction and it still flashes.

Today I went to the store and bought a new one. the same thing. I put in my 2 life glos and it still flashed. So i thought it was the bulbs, so I put in the bulbs taht came with the new fixture. And IT STILL FLASHED.

I don't know WHY ITS DOING THIS AND ITS ****ING ME OFF. Is there something wrong with my electrical circuit around my whole house, like WHY IS THIS HAPPENING to the new fixture and the new bulbs.

I'm now just planning to buy the Hagen's T5 48" doubles.

I think it is your Canadian eletricity up there. . .(sorry I dont know why I had to but I did)

I would check the contacts in your end-caps, and double check that everything is connected nice and tight. If that is not it, my best guess would be that you need a new ballast for it.

Was this possibly over a reef tank? think salt. . . where can it get and clean that.

my coralife lamps did the same thing.
2 were a year old so i thought it was a old ballast.
i bought 2 more and both are now flashing after 6 months use.

if i were you i'd bring the one you recently bought back the store.

i will never buy coralife lamps again.

catalina all the way!!!

Your Coralife T5 fixture uses normal output T5 bulbs that are 28w each. You put in Hagen T5 high output bulbs that are 54w each. That is why the Hagen higher wattage bulbs are blinking.

Use the correct Coralife bulbs and it should be OK unless there is a starter/ballast problem too.

That ballast is not rated up to 54W. it will only run the 28W bulbs

oh. how pathetic then. That's just totally dumb of coralife to make it only be able to go up to 28W bulbs, when most people will and want to switch to their preferred T5 light anyways. psshh

I'm going to buy Hagen's Double T5. At least they're smart enough to use a ballast that can handle higher wattage.

My 24" T5 NO Coralife fixture is flashing, but it has the correct bulbs (only 14W NO bulbs). I have contacted coralife... It worked in my classroom tank for about 6 months. Bulbs are brand new, and I took the fixture to be tested. Is looks like a short, but the flashing is too rhythmic... sometimes it won't light at all.

Boo.
