Checkered Rainbowfish (Melanotaenia splendida inornata)

I have for sale 8 full-sized checkered rainbows. Downsizing my livestock. I got these about 3 months ago and they are healthy and active. They are feeding on a mix of flake, dry, and frozen food right now, but will pretty much eat anything and everything. They are about 3.5-4 inches long each. Coloration is different under different lighting, some are reddish/copper and some are blue/green. Refer to pictures for details!

Local pickup only right now. $40 $30 for all 8, thanks

Where are you located and how thick around are they?

Nice fish man. I expect this to go fast.

Default FS: Australian rainbowfish (Melanotaenia fluviatilis)

Sorry, located in Little Neck, zip code 11362. They're a good thickness, I think. Measurement-wise I'm not sure.. Maybe more than 1/4" but less than 1/2"? If you're talking about girth, maybe 2-2.5"?

they're not fluviatilis though I can tell you that with certainty. Most likely a run of the mill pet store Melanotaenia splendida inornata, common name the checkerboard rainbowfish. Still they can be quite beautiful and can get up to five inches in length.

Looks like you're right, thanks. The LFS didn't have them labeled correctly. Edited the OP.

Never had a bichir myself, maybe someone else would know? Is it enough reason to start another tank?

Also willing to break up the fish into groups smaller than 8. A la carte, if you will, just let me know.

Dropping the price to $30 for all 8. Would be willing to meet up elsewhere within NYC/Long Island within reason, just let me know.

No, these are checkered rainbows. Australian rainbows are a little bit different.

Anyone? I can do $20 for all 8 of them just to let them go, it's a pretty good deal in my opinion if anyone is interested.
