Malawa shrimp as algae eaters?

I've got Amano shrimp as algae eaters in a large aquarium, and they are working out well at that task.

Do Malawa Shrimp eat hair algae well also?

Not really. Maybe a little but it is not comparable to the amano at all.

I've never seen my Malawa eat hair algae.

Amano is a good additions to any shrimp communities. Before I was skeptical about it eating other shrimps, however, after getting them I'm so happy with the result. They clean every single algae in my tank: hair, black mold looking one, brown one. And they seem to clean aggressively too which is a plus.

Now I keep them with FPR, Yellow, and CRS. Also kept together with Nerite Snail.
