CarbonDoser Electronic Co2 Regulator (the BEST in the World)

http://www.aquariumplants.com/Carbon...ator_p/co2.htm

Has anyone used this system before? Looking for some personal reviews if possible before I waste my money on this. Thanks in advance!

Discussion related to this item pops up occasionally; there was someone who took it apart a few years ago (there's a thread on it), and it just turned out to be a solenoid that opens/closes to control the flow.

I would rather invest in a quality regulator.

The pseudo-scientific "marketing speak" they give on their page is utter nonsense.

Firstly, the problem of "dumping" is not caused by needle valve. Dumping happens because of how the actual pressure-reducing mechanism works. Dual-stage regulators do not suffer from dumping. (Strictly speaking, it is not a big problem with single stage regulators either.) Their claim that "Dumping is always a problem with regulators which utilize a needle valve" is patently false.

Secondly, it is not clear what they mean by "once the pressure in the cylinder changes, so will the amount of co2 that passes through the needle valve". With CO2 regulator the input pressure never changes. That's the whole point of having the actual CO2 regulator.

Thirdly, it is true that the operation of the ordinary CO2 regulator is affected by changes in atmospheric pressure (albeit insignificantly). However, the very same changes in atmospheric pressure will affect their "electronic" CO2 regulator in the every same way: the size of the bubble that will be able to squeeze through their "electronic valve" each time it opens will be affected by atmospheric pressure.

I and another person i know have this product. I am very happy with mine. I plug it in, set it and it runs. Never had an issue and have owned it for years.

Just my input.
