I did a cycle using fish and a seachem bio starter they advertise as safe to use with fish from day 1. My nitrites boosted for a few days, so I did partial water changes for two days, and it finished cycling in about a month.

Check with others here before you try, but seachem , I think it is called "stability" seemed to work nicely to help the cycle along. Any one else try it?

Substrate is MGOPM capped with play sand. I went pretty heavy with plants right off the bat. Here is a very early picture. Since then all of the stems have filled in nicely and the chain sword has started taking over.

I mixed 2.5ml of tank water with 2.5ml of tap and it still read over 5ppm.
