CryptKeeper54's ADA mini M "Reborn"

---CryptKeeper54's ADA mini M "Reborn"---

Yes. I painted an ADA tank for a permanent black background. Taboo I know, but this tank is of the older variety so I did it.

This will be a CRS tank eventually/hopefully, housed at work where the tank will be in an air conditioned room making for much cooler waters. Actualy made this for our ward secretary who was willing to "baby-sit" my tank. Gave me an excuse to work on this project without the wife getting too crazy. I will only keep it at home till I get the tank stabilized.

Plants: E.Parvula, H.Kompact, mini Pelia, Rotala Vietnam, H.Micranthemoides, A.Nana petite, and Buces (3 small kayukalan? I think.... will revise when I confirm later). Buces were not growing well in my 12 gal long (check my sig) so I threw them in here to see how they do.

Hardscape: river rock pebbles and ADA Hornwood.

Using a Fluval C2 for filtration.

Just going to do Excel dosing MWF, as per instructions. Will try to determine fertilizer program (if any) after plants settle in for a month or two. Planted in Fluval Shrimp Stratum.

Buces:

I think this will look very nice, will you add floaters to subdue the light, since you're not using CO2?

Nice! You're getting very good at scaping. I hope the rotala does well without CO2 or else that H.M. might take over the back corner.

Never thought of that. Guess I should, I got frogbit on hand and they grow stupid fast so that should be no problem. I kept on searching for tanks running off a ADA Solar mini without CO2 to see if I would run into alage and growth problems but couldn't find anything. I guess time will tell with my excel regimen.

Thanks. Got to experiment with plants in this tank. Never did an excel only dosed tank.

Kompact leaves melted off one plant and pelia with some browning. Hope its not due to using excel. Currently dosing per Seachem instructions. Water has cleared up nicely. Tank is coming along slowly.

Shoot, I remember a couple of threads saying excel kills mini pelia. I wonder if it'll do better lower in the tank.
