Driftwood size


How large a piece of driftwood would you recommend for a 40B, tank is 36x18x16? I did some looking around at LFS, one by me has some pretty cool pieces but they are about 19" long which I assume would be too domintating in my tank. Any ideas?

How about either putting the piece into/on top of a 40B at the store or just holding it up next to it to see what you think. It is amazing how much hard scape can fit into a tank. 19" might be a good size depending on what sort of scape you had in mind.

I like my driftwood to take up 1/3 of the tank if im not going heavy on the rest of the hardscape.

I actually saw a tank on here I really liked, one of the members tanks. I want to try and use it's hardscape for inspiration. I just have to find similar wood, I didn't think finding pieces would be so difficulty. Or maybe I just don't know how to look.
